Meet-up on User Research
I attended the Lollypop user research meet-up that happened on 2nd March. It was a new experience. I got to meet different people with different perspectives, and experiences.
The panel with [names] discussion was insightful. They talked about
• Their journey in the industry
• How the metrics work in the workplace
• Effects of AI
-
Aspects to focus on while interacting with users- get insights into the emotional, social, and functional needs of users
-
To do user research one should “eat their food and speak their language” to get insights from the users.
Above all I learned how much business aspects affect the design and the process. It is essential to understand the business aspects of design.
Business aspect:
-
Be equal partners with other teams - including yourself throughout the process
-
Have hands-on work for the stakeholders while doing the primary user research so that they also understand, know the importance and insights
-
Have a common insights library sheet for the project between the team so that each of them knows the info, and can coordinate
-
Have another sheet to track the impact of the research - have epics, insights, and tickets
-
Know, and widen one's scope to PM, design, and research to have a better understanding, communication
-
Track the impact, consider these aspects: -Insights which have and haven’t aligned with stakeholders -Look at the features of the product to know the impact that
I also met a few fellow designers and got to know their experience working in a startup and big companies.
